2020 Project

2020 Project details

Project Uganda 2020 will give adults  the opportunity  to travel to Uganda to undertake building work on a small orphanage at Lake Bunyonyi near Kabale in the south west corner of the country.

The trips follow on from the 2018 project at the orphanage which saw the completion of a seven roomed dormitory building complete with bedrooms and showers.

The 2020 Project

This is for adults only and will rebuild the school on the orphanage site. The current school buildings are in a poor state of repair and are slowly being eaten by termites! The existing buildings will be taken down and replaced with 10 classrooms complete with lighting. This will enable the orphanage to retain its Government status as a recognised school for both the children living at the orphanage and from the local village.

Participants need to be aged 18 or over by June 2020. You do not need to currently be part of the Scout Movement but will need to join as an Associate Member for the duration of the Project. Full training on the skills required will be given and you are expected to attend the Training Weekends throughout 2019 and early 2020.

If you are new to one of our Projects then you also need to attend the Selection Weekend on 11th – 12th May 2019.

The provisional dates of the trip are 3 weeks in June/July 2020. The closing date for applications and payment of the initial deposit is 7th June 2019.
